It's a Start

Well...  The idea in starting this blog was to have a place with legal assistants and paralegals who work in immigration law can share their thoughts and ideas with each other.

I have heard that mine isn't an unusual story for how I became an immigration law paralegal.  Went to work for an attorney who practices plaintiff's law.  He wants to expand into other areas - namely immigration law.
Why immigration law?  Because it's administrative just like Social Security law.  Not hardly.  Try a little more like Tax Law.

So, along comes a client, and the lawyer says, "Go handle it."  Great getting tossed in the deep end of the pool kind of client.  I-130 with consular processing.  Yes, I bought the Kurzban and also took an Introduction to Immigration Law class at the local law school.  And I worked my way through it.  Along come more I-130s.  Along comes a church that wants to import a minister - add R-series visas to the list.  And more - E-series, an appeal on a U, etc.  And all along - go handle it.  So I did.

So I am just swimming around in the deep end of the pool and would like to communicate with other immigration law paralegals who are in similar situations.  Perhaps we can use the blog to help each other learn.

My latest desire - don't know how realistic it is - is to go to work for a full time immigration law firm and do nothing but this.  Yes, I do enjoy it.  I enjoy butting heads with the CIS.

Anyway, there's the reason I started this thing.  Hope others will come along and participate.

Oh - for those who aren't legal assistants, paralegals, or other legal professionals - this is not a blog for getting free legal advice.  We're not allowed to give legal advice.  I'll leave it up to other participants how much they wish to help or not.

Thanks for reading and posting.
